Jingle Bells- Holiday tasting

There's no better way to start the holiday season than with an ugly sweater party and a tequila tasting event! We featured some incredible brands and also offered a bottle of Mezcal for our guests to sample.

The tasting began with an outstanding blanco from Código 1530. Código 1530 takes pride in displaying the Jerusalem Cross as its emblem, a symbol of its legacy. This historic cross is a component of the Jalisco Coat of Arms, dating back to the year 1530. While most tequila is aged in American whiskey barrels, Código 1530 is aged in Napa Valley Cabernet French White Oak wine barrels. This difference allows us to embrace the clean elegance of winemaking and produce a uniquely delicate finish.

Next up we showcased one of my favorite brands AND reposados from Tequila Ocho. Ocho's co-founder and master distiller, Carlos Camarena is a 5th generation agave farmer and 3rd generation tequilero. In fact, it was his great grandfather who was credited to with bringing the blue Weber agave to the highlands of Jalisco. Carlos Camarena has flourished into one of the most respected tequila makers in the world, making this reposado absolutely mouthwatering.

The Anejo for this tasting not only tasted fantastic but it has a really great background story as well. 123 Organic tequila was founded by David Ravandi. Ravandi's vision for this brand was to create the first fully sustainable brand that included fully organic farming and distillation. The taste shines through the Anejo bottle where you can truly pick up the extraordinary characteristics of caramel and chocolate alongside the oaky flavor from the American oak barrels that is rests in for 18 months. If you are a whiskey drinker, this is one bottle that you should try. You will appreciate the complexity and flavors

Overall, the holiday tasting we hosted was a success. The winner of the ugly sweater contest decided to bring home her preferred bottle from the event, selecting the Código 1530 blanco. She described it as incredibly smooth, light, and absolutely delightful!
